IT WILL BE THE THIRD IN TURKEY! THE NEW TRABZON AIRPORT IS COMING

It was stated that Trabzon Airport, one of the oldest airports in the region, was planned as a new airport with a sea filling operation to be carried out in the form of a sea filling to the north of the existing airport.

After the construction of Giresun-Ordu Airport and the Rize-Artvin Airport, which is expected to enter service in the coming months, the 3rd as a sea filling airport, the airport will again be built in Trabzon, an Eastern Black Sea city.

Trabzon Deputy, who made statements on the issue, noted that the study of the new runway and airport related to Trabzon Airport will be clarified within a month or two. Stating that the only runway available is not enough and the new airport is due to necessity, Deputy said, “Trabzon Airport is one of the oldest airports in the region. It is an international airport and has the distinction of being the first airport in the region.

At the moment, when we look at it, the passenger carrying capacity is at the maximum level and it serves about 3.5 million passengers annually. We are facing problems if large aircraft use our airport.

At the same time, a single runway is not enough. A new airport has arisen out of necessity. The construction of a new airport is a rantable and feasible project. It is a project that will contribute to the Trabzon region and contribute to the country’s economy. In this sense, Trabzon has entered the investment program as a new airport in 2022. In this sense, we thank our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, our Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, we are grateful,” he said.

THE PROJECT WILL BECOME CLEAR IN A MONTH OR TWO

While you continue to use the existing airport, the new airport so as not to cause any disruption in air transportation padding noting that the existing airport was planned in the form of the North Sea, Deputy, “If we do that the existing airport padding in the form of the sea from the central budget, if we can also the location of the current airport as a logistics hub we will have the opportunity of considering it.

Because our existing airport can also see this need, we can use the existing airport for this purpose when the new airport is finished in the next stage.

If the construction model is changed, but not from the central budget, if there is a model such as build-operate-transfer, this time it may also be considered within the scope of build-operate the existing airport. I think that the project will become clear in a month or two, and we will have taken our steps in this regard,”he said.

Noting that Trabzonspor Facilities located at the bottom of the airport on the sea side will also be included in the expropriation area as part of the new runway and airport work, Deputy said: “Trabzonspor Facilities will be expropriated and will be accompanied by a fill as such. The existing space will not be enough anyway, there will probably be an expansion forward, and the Trabzonspor Facilities also appear to be within the expropriation area,” he said.
