94,708 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WERE CAUGHT IN ISTANBUL

In the notification made by the Istanbul Provincial Migration Administration about foreign citizens in the megacity, it was announced that a total of 94 thousand 708 illegal immigrants have been processed since January-July 2022.

In a statement, from the Provincial Migration Administration announced that a total of 1 million 294 thousand 124 foreign nationals were legally residing in Istanbul, and since January, a total of 94 thousand 708 illegal immigrants have been processed and sent to repatriation centers.

All transactions for foreigners located in Istanbul are carried out within the scope of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458. Currently, 1 million 294 thousand 124 foreigners are legally residing in our province, including 746 thousand 16 foreigners with residence permits, 548 thousand 108 Syrians with temporary protection, a total of 1 million 294 thousand 124 foreigners. Foreigners who have the right of legal stay in our province have access to the rights and services within the scope of the relevant legislation.

Illegal immigrants who do not have the right to legal stay cannot benefit from any public services. As soon as illegal immigrants are identified by our law enforcement tech agencies, the necessary judicial and administrative proceedings are initiated against them and deportation proceedings are carried out by our Directorate.

During the inspections conducted in our province from January to today, 94 thousand 708 illegal immigrants were taken legal action and 19 thousand 32 people were deported directly from Istanbul Airport to their countries. On the other hand, 66 thousand 524 illegal immigrants who were processed were sent to jail repatriation centers located in other provinces under the coordination of the Migration Administration for deportation after court sentence.

However, 7,975 foreign-owned business signs throughout the province have been audited for compliance with our legislation, 5,768 business signs have been brought into compliance with the standards, and 2,207 business signs are still being processed.
